Sylfaen has three members of staff:
Val has been with Sylfaen since the beginning. She coordinates the company’s work and undertakes the research and evaluation work, as well as community development training and new project development. Val grew up in Amlwch, and she attended Ysgol Syr Thomas Jones before studying Sociology at Bangor University. After working with Gwynedd Council's Youth Service, she joined the Voluntary Sector, first with Women's Aid in Rhyl, then with the Children's Society and, for the last 17 years, with Sylfaen Cymunedol. Val has a Postgraduate Diploma in Community Development. |
Dawn is the newest member of the team, having started with Sylfaen in June 2018. She went to Ysgol Syr Hugh Owen, Caernarfon, before working with children and young people for nearly 30 years, with Bangor Women’s Aid, Barnardo’s, and Cartrefi Cymunedol Gwynedd. Dawn has experience of family and tenancy support, as well as a wider understanding of community through her role as a town councillor and school governor. |
She is a lass from Penygroes, with experience working with young people as a volunteer, and more recently in paid positions. She has done youth work with Iwth Pen, encouraged young people to develop skills in outdoor activities with Dim Cyfle and Dringo’r Waliau, and she offers support to care-leavers with a private group. Sandra is also Chair of Siop Griffiths, a community regeneration project in Penygroes. |
